Carolina Champions league round up

September 21st was the second Carolina Champions League games of the 2019 season for Asheville Shield. Our six competitive fall teams travelled to Matthews Sportsplex for two games each and continued their brilliant start to the season.

Throughout the day our teams combined for a total of 35 goals across 12 games, and had two teams finish the weekend with two wins from two. Our two youngest teams shone the light for the club (U11 & U12s) with two wins a piece - the U11s picked up their first ever win and quickly followed it with their second just a couple hours later. Meanwhile, our U12 team kept up their wonderful start to the season and ended the day with their 100% record still going strong as they remain 4 from 4. U14 boys remain unbeaten this season but saw their 7 game win streak put to an end with a hard-fought 2-2 draw with One7 in their second game of the day. Injury plagued U15 girls battled incredibly hard in game one and managed to battle to a 2-2 draw, despite playing the full game with 10 players.

Although it is always fantastic to see how happy our teams are when they win, it is even more impressive when we see them replicate what they have worked in on in training. It is obvious our teams have been working hard since the start of the season, which has been showcased by the rapid growth in development we have witnessed. We are proud of all our players and are excited to see what week 3 brings when we return in October.
