Labor Day Shootout 2019

06 Boys - Labor Day Champions

Our 06 boys made the whole club proud this weekend when they were crowned champions at this years season opening tournament in Greensboro. The boys had four games over the duration of the weekend - coming away with four wins from four having scored a total of 14 goals and 1 clean sheet. We are incredibly proud of the development of this team as they enter only there second season together. Last year when the boys entered the same tournament they were unlucky to come away with 4 loses…. fast forward a year and it not only shows the hard-work that they have put in, but also that our coaches philosophies are paying off. After an unbeaten start to the season, we cannot wait to see how good this team looks at the end of the year. Despite winning the tournament this weekend, the boys only have 13 players in their team. Coach Ryan is looking to add players to his squad and we are open to allowing supplemental tryouts.

Tournament Round Up

Alongside our 06 Champions, we also had five other Shield teams compete including two brand new teams; 2009 Boys & 2008 Boys, alongside them we also had our 04 Girls, 05 Girls, and 07 Boys returning. Following the weekend we are very excited to see how our teams will develop / perform in the Carolina Champions League this season. Last year was our biggest season in club history and as a consequence we have added many more exciting young players to our teams. This weekend we had a lot of ‘Shield Debuts’ as well as a Shield coaching debut with our newest coach; Coach Tanner. Our aim as a club is not just to help players develop on the field, but also to become a family off it. This weekend we saw multiple new relationships created and memories that will last a life time with big team pizza parties and bowling competitions! Congratulations to all players for starting the season on such a high note - we cannot wait for our Carolina Champions League 2019 Season opener on September 14th.
